Singing Allowed: Beccles Community Choir is a group of community singers making music accessible, fun and inclusive.

You don’t need to audition, you don’t need to read music.

Just come along and enjoy the act of singing with a group of like-minded people who find singing in unison an enjoyable, fun and exhilarating experience.

Unwind with us and let the music lift your mood: make you happier, more confident and above all have fun.

If you can speak, you can sing, so come along to the Waveney Centre which offers beautiful views over the river Waveney in Becckes, introduce yourself to our choir master, Stephen, and join us for a session.

The choir welcomes everybody, all ages and abilities – we meet at:
The Waveney Centre,

‼️📣POSSIBLE RESTART ANNOUNCEMENT📣‼️🎼🎵🎶🤗🤔😍🙌

Following the announcement that live indoor performances can resume from 15th August with socially distanced audiences, DCMS (Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport) have updated the Performing Arts guidance to confirm that non-professionals can now engage in all performing arts activities, including singing, wind and brass.

The reason I wanted to share this status was to see how many of you would like to return to choir as well as to consult with you about any measures or protocols you would like to see implemented to give you confidence to do so.

The Waveney Centre has reopened as a COVID-secure venue which would allow us to restart indoor singing but I have a duty of care to members to ensure as far as is reasonably practicable that you are not exposed to risks to your health and safety and so, the following plans and mitigation procedures would be introduced:
• Social distancing as follows when seated and singing - 1x metre width between chairs and 3x metre depth between chairs.
• Maximum of 28 members to attend (booking would be essential).
• Singing to happen only facing forward.
• Masks to be worn upon entrance and exit (NOT for singing).
• One-way system for entrance and exit to the centre (Entrance via side alleyway and through rear patio doors, exit via main usual entrance).
• Use of hand sanitising stations located at the centre.
• All chairs, door handles, toilets and touch-points will be disinfected prior to and after rehearsal.
• Venue will be well ventilated with patio doors remaining open throughout the session.
• Payment to be made with correct amount of cash (no change given or handling of money).
• I would encourage you to bring your own lyrics and music sheets which I would make available on the website for printing at home (I can supply lyrics through if you do not have opportunity to print).
• No drinking water can be supplied – please bring your own bottle.
• Social/break time will take place within the gardens outdoors with masks to be worn and social distancing observed.
• Register taken as part of a track and trace procedure (details kept for 21 days and then shredded).
• If anybody has symptoms (including a temperature of 37.8°c), you would need to stay away.

If there is a sufficient number of people who would like to restart, then we can do so. BUT, please make your own decision about whether you are happy to return and do not feel any pressure to do so - I just wanted to supply all the information so that you have the confidence to make an informed decision about whether it is appropriate for you or not.

If you have any questions at all, if you feel that there are any other precautions we could take or if you would like to reserve a place at rehearsals, please either comment here or message me on our Facebook page or the details below.

Thanks
Stephen
